“We need others to bear witness to our deepest longings, our greatest joys, our most painful shame, and all the rest in order to have any sense at all of ourselves.” ~ Curt Thompson

Story Work & Christian Community Group

Many of us long to be truly seen, known, and understood. This group is designed to provide a safe, supportive Christian community where participants can share their stories, explore their struggles, and experience deeper connection with both God and others.

Our earliest relationships shape how we see ourselves, others, and God. Often, our families and life experiences leave us carrying beliefs about ourselves that are incomplete, distorted, or simply untrue. Like looking into a funhouse mirror, we can begin to mistake these distorted reflections for our true identity.

Story Work helps us revisit and re-examine the stories that have shaped us so we can better understand our wounds, recognize unhealthy patterns, and begin to internalize who God says we are. Through compassionate exploration, participants gain greater self-awareness, healing, and freedom.

If you are familiar with Curt Thompson's concept of Confessional Communities or the Story Work models of Dan Allender and Adam Young, you will recognize the heart of this group. If these approaches are new to you, we encourage you to explore their podcasts, Being Known and The Place We Find Ourselves, to get a sense of the group's philosophy and approach.

Our facilitators are trained in both Story Work and Confessional Community models and integrate insights from Attachment Science, Internal Family Systems (IFS), and other Interpersonal Neurobiology Interventions that are trauma-informed.

Throughout the group, participants will have opportunities to share meaningful parts of their story and receive compassionate support, feedback, and encouragement from fellow group members and facilitators.

Recovering from Spiritual Harm Group

Whether it was a pastor, a church leader, other Christians, including our family members, many of us have felt hurt by people “in the name of God”. We are left sorting out Who is God? And, how do we heal from some of “Christian Culture” that is anything but Christian? How can we heal from those wounds and still find Jesus in the end? While the term “deconstructing” has been charged, many are struggling to untangle the hurt and disillusioned feelings left from unhealthy spiritual environments. If you need a safe place to unpack your experience with others going through the same thing but feeling just as alone as you, this is a group for you.

Therapeutic Book Club

Are you a reader of all things self-help? Do you read a good book but then don’t really know how to implement it? Does reading these books bring up (sometimes overwhelming) feelings and memories you aren’t sure what to do with? Meeting with other like-minded readers and a therapist to help handle the challenges that come up with the material is an amazing way to grow and internalize all you are learning. This type of experience in a group helps us get what we’re learning from our head to our hearts for real, long-lasting change.

“Imagine actually experiencing tenderness toward who you are"

-Aundi Kolber
